Rumors involving Boston Sports, Celebrity Gossip, and Humor

Nick Swisher

Posted by Mike on November 5, 2008

Chicago Tribune:

Swisher, who lost his outfield job late in the season, could go back to Oakland or to Boston, both of which preach patience for hitters. Swisher did not adapt to the Sox’s more aggressive style.

The Red Sox, looking for a reliable starter, could offer veteran infielder Julio Lugo, who has two years and $18 million left. Lugo is a potential leadoff hitter with speed.

What Swisher would be worth is unknown, but he hit only .133 in his final 27 games and was mostly a failure as a leadoff man. He also is owed $21 million for three years.
