Anyone Got Pain Killers ?

Posted by Mike on November 5, 2008

The tumultuous life of Ryan Leaf continues, after today he had to take a leave of absence from his job as West Texas A&M quarterbacks coach, reports ESPN. Leaf, reportedlyasked a player for a pain killer due to a “wrist injury” he has. If he had just lived in Massachusetts, he could just smoke marijuana for the injury. Leaf is famously remembered as perhaps the biggest bust in the history of the NFL. Leading up to the 1998 NFL Draft there was a big debate who to take for the Indianapolis Colts; Peyton Manning or Ryan Leaf. Luckily for the Colts they went with Manning. The San Diego Chargers then selected Leaf, who went on to throw a career 14 TD’s and 36 interceptions. Leaf is now famously remembered for this video clip. More from ESPN:

West Texas A&M quarterbacks coach Ryan Leaf, the former San Diego Chargersquarterback, has been placed on indefinite leave at his request to deal with a personal issue, athletic director Michael McBroom said Wednesday.

A person briefed on the situation said that Leaf acknowledged he had asked a player for a pill to help him deal with pain in his wrist dating to his NFL playing days.

McBroom said he could not comment on the allegation until all inquiries had been completed, and he could not say if or when Leaf would return.
