Brett Myers Never Wants To Pitch In Boston Again

Posted by Mike on October 29, 2008

Philadelphia Philles right-hander, Brett Myers vowed in a USA Today article, never to beat his wife in Boston again. Myers actually said “I don’t ever want to pitch in Boston again.” This is due to an incident that occurred in 2006, when Myers was arrested for beating his wife and pulling her around by the hair in the shadow’s of Fenway Park. The contention for Myers is this was blown out of proportion and he was just trying to help his wife. And I put the roofie in that girl’s drink because I didn’t want her to get alcohol poisoning. Sounds like a believable story. After all, Myers is quite the nice guy, right ? He did once say this to a reporter:

Hey! You pointin’ at me mother****er?! I’ll tell you what, dude, I’ll knock you mutherf***ing out! F**K YOU!!! You’re tough when f**in’ people are standing in front of you, aren’t you, you piece of sh*t! Come on! You f**ing idiot. Yeah, you’re tough when f***in’ people are standing in front of you, you stupid ass.”

But, since his Boston incident, Myers is now shell shocked to pitch in Red Sox nation. In fact, if the Red Sox actually won game 7 and played the Phillies in the World Series, Myers would tell skipper Charlie Manuel that he wouldn’t pitch games 1,2,6, or 7. That’s a pitcher I want on my staff. More from USA Today:

But he couldn’t escape the fear of the Phillies’ possible World Series opponent. “I did not want to play Boston,” says Myers, 28. “If Boston had beat Tampa, I would have gone to (manager) Charlie (Manuel) and told him, ‘I don’t want to pitch in Boston.’

“I don’t ever want to pitch in Boston again.”

Myers has never publicly revealed details of the night of June 22, 2006, in Boston. He says he doesn’t want to talk about it, but slowly the words seep out.

Myers says he and Kim went out for dinner. They had drinks. Lots of them. They started to bicker. An argument arose on the street outside a bar. According to the police report, Myers allegedly hit his wife and dragged her by her hair. He was arrested and charged with assault and battery and released after Kim posted bail.

“They say I dragged my wife by her hair,” Myers says. “Never happened.

“They say I kicked her and threw her around like a rag doll. Never happened.

“I never did anything to her. There was nothing on her face. I was actually trying to protect her and get her to her room. She didn’t want to go, and things got carried away.

“When you’re both heavily intoxicated, that stuff does stuff to you you’re not supposed to do.”
