Manny Goes Deep

Posted by Mike on October 2, 2008

In a bit of a surprise, the Los Angeles Dodgers went on the road and beat the Chicago Cubs yesterday 7 -2. Led by a James Loney grand slam, along Manny Ramirez going 2 for 4 with a home run as well, the Dodgers took a 1-0 advantage in the series. The Cubs threw out their best pitcher at home yesterday, Ryan Dempster who is 14-3 with a 2.86 ERA at Wrigley this season, but his inability to throw strikes, along with some timely hitting by the Dodgers, cost the Cubbies a chance to go one-up in the series. Now, the Cubs must send out staff ace Carlos Zambrano who just recently threw a no-hitter against the Houston Astros. Other than that no-hitter, Zambrano hasn’t gone above five innings of work since August 21st. Ramirez has faced Zambrano three times, and he has yet to get a hit off of him.

Prediction: Cubs 5 Dodgers 2
