Lee Westwood Not Happy With American Crowd

Posted by Mike on September 23, 2008

Lee Westwood, member of the European Ryder Team was not very happy with the pro American crowds at the Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky. The USA team won the Ryder Cup this past Sunday the first time since 1999, when they won it in Brookline, Massachusetts. The crowds that the native of England found to be unruly was what USA team captain Paul Azinger called the “13th man”. Even without Tiger Woods, Team USA found a way to beat the Europeans, and they owe a lot of credit to the fans, the ones who Westwood told the Sun-Sentinel were “shameful”:

Westwood said there was some “shameful” fan participation, including a foul reference about his mother before he his a tee shot, and a nuisance telephone call to his room in the wee hours before the final round.
